Malaysia Stamps - 150 Years Straits Settlements Stamps Provisional Issue - September 1, 2017

The Straits Settlements cover Penang (first named Prince of Wales Island and now Penang Island as well as a mainland stretch called Province Wellesley and now Seberang Perai) , Malacca (now Melaka) and Singapore (now a separate country) and at one time, Labuan, an island off Sabah in Borneo and Dindings (Lumut, Setiawan and Pangkor Island in Perak).

1A) For Penang, I visited and cancelled at all 5 post offices in Penang State.

In Penang Island, there are two post offices (PULAU PINANG at Penang Main Post Office at Downing Street, George Town and DATO KRAMAT Post Office) with First Day Cover pictorial cancellations.

1B) In Seberang Perai, there are three post offices with pictorial FDC chops - BUTTERWORTH, TAMAN CHAI LENG (in Perai) and BUKIT MERTAJAM.

2) For Dindings, I visited Perak State and cancelled at LUMUT, SITIAWAN and PANGKOR post office. As there is no FDC cancellation for Pangkor Island Post Office, I did a normal date chop. 

3) For Melaka, I bought from other collectors - FDC cancelled at JLN. LAKSAMANA Post Office in the heart of historic Melaka and MELAKA at Melaka General  Post Office.

4) For Labuan, I swapped with a collector from LABUAN.

In addition, there are souvenir covers designed by Penang Philatelic Society with the PPS chop and PPS 150 Years Straits Settlements special chop.
